Leah Sobieck

Licensed Professional Counselor

Leah was born among boreal forests and lakes in the Great Northwoods of Minnesota. Raised by artists and naturalists, she grew up writing poetry, befriending animals and plants, and hosting a radio show. Leah landed in Portland over 15 years ago to explore the mountains and work in non-profits. Her background is in community development, emphasizing affordable housing and supporting families living with acute illness. In addition to her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lewis & Clark College, Leah has certifications in yoga therapy and postpartum mental health.

Leah works within an Existential/Humanistic and Somatic therapeutic orientation, meaning she listens and considers the whole person’s body, mind and spirit. Consider Leah’s welcoming, warm, and curious approach to counseling if you’re wanting to create a practice of self-inquiry, identify patterns of strengths and defenses, experience relational presence, develop honest forms of expression, clarify and act within your values, try creative and experiential practices, or form deeper connections to self, others, and nature. Leah works with adult individuals experiencing perinatal and postpartum issues, high sensitivity/introversion, friction in relationships, fear of transitions and uncertainty, loneliness, challenges with self-discovery, and big/small/confusing losses of identities/people/pets/ideals.
