Holistic Healing PDX is a counseling practice that addresses mental health from the mind, body, and spirit.
About Holistic Healing PDX
Our practice was founded in Portland, OR in 2018 by Lauren Summer (MA, LPC), with a passion for helping clients who have experienced trauma and/or difficult childhood experiences to heal, reconnect to a sense of safety within themselves, and find the freedom to pursue a meaningful life. We have grown to a group of counselors who are also interested in and passionate about helping folks navigate trauma, OCD, anxiety disorders, and attachment difficulties that often show up in our closest relationships. We hope to continue building a practice that will give clients a soft place to land when life inevitably gets difficult.
Counseling Style
The counselors at Holistic Healing PDX come from a wide range of backgrounds and employ a variety of treatment approaches including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Exposure & Response Prevention, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, Somatic, and Existentialism, to name a few. We also look at the individual through a sociocultural lens as a means of accounting for privilege and barriers.
We consider ourselves relational therapists by emphasizing the role of the therapeutic relationship in client work. We are committed to providing relationships with warmth, compassion, and trust at their core, and strive to provide folks with a space to be heard, respected, and empowered.

We believe that all mental health issues are rooted in experiences of trauma, so we take a trauma-informed approach when addressing mental health, no matter what symptoms you are experiencing.
Values

Treating the Whole Person
Trauma impacts not only the mind, but the body, spirit, and our ability to form meaningful connections to others. We believe that healing is a truly holistic process that needs to be pursued through multiple treatment approaches, including but not limited to: mental health counseling, body work, medicine, social connection, and spirituality.
Equity & Empowerment
We believe in the incredible healing power of embracing and celebrating each client’s intersecting identities. We strive to provide equitable and empowering care for folks who have experienced oppression. We celebrate the diversity of identities and experiences that exist in our community, and advocate for supporting a climate of increased resources for those who have experienced high degrees of trauma.
Honoring the Self
We honor that each client is the expert and author of their own story. We believe that each person possesses their own intuitive wisdom that points to their unique path to healing.
Giving Back
Those who have been most traumatized are often the ones most in need of additional support. We strive to use our resources to offer limited scholarships for community members in need.
Community Building
We are committed to partnerships with community members who support other forms of health as a means of building a network for our clients to access trauma informed health care at every opportunity.
